Black Women in The Word is a movement of Black women seeking God and pressing into His presence by studying the Word. It aims to increase the visibility of Black women who are either actively studying God’s word, conducting exegesis or eisegesis, or merely sharing their observations and encouragement from scripture (#BlackWomeninTheWord). Thereby, it also hopes to deny the prevalent stereotype that Black Christian Faith does not include both spiritualism and intellectualism by showing as well as arguing that Black individuals are Biblically Sound: (#BlackandBiblicallySound).

Furthermore, the blog Black Women in The Word, aspires to write to and for Black women by sharing personal observations, insights from readings, and more. Likewise, it desires to affirm Black women’s whole identity through scripture. In a world that often marginalizes, oppresses, and minimizes the voices of Black women, especially Christian women, I pray that this blog will do the opposite. I pray that you’ll leave the blog knowing that you are not alone! I strongly believe that God, THE CREATOR, intentionally created YOU with every aspect of your identity. I’m praying that you will be reminded that you are: “Beautifully Black and Wonderfully Woman.”
